What are MINT™ PDO threads?
MINT™ stands for Minimally Invasive Non-surgical Thread. It is an FDA-approved absorbable thread that is placed to lift soft, sagging tissue of the face and neck to a desired position. The thread is made of complex sugar polydioxanone, or PDO, a safe suture material that has been used for orthopedic and cardiovascular surgeries for over 30 years. The thread is placed and lifts the tissues and eventually dissolves. The effects of collagen and elastin production remains to produce a persistent lifting effect.
What can I expect during a typical treatment?
Your aesthetic specialist will perform a thorough consultation to determine the optimal placement of MINT PDO threads to get the look you want. A small needle is used to inject numbing medicine around the thread placement sites prior to the procedure and may feel like a pinch. The threads are then placed and may be accompanied by a sensation of “tugging.” Most procedures take 30-60 minutes.

What is the downtime post MINT™ PDO treatment?
There is no significant downtime. However, we do advise patients to limit certain activities post MINT™ PDO thread placement, to include: strenuous exercise for 2 weeks, dental procedures for 4 weeks, laser treatments for 10 weeks.
What are the common side effects?
The most common side effects reported include redness, swelling at site of numbing medicine injection/site of MINT™ PDO thread insertion. Mild bruising and bleeding could also occur.
